The fact that you are visiting this blog site indicates that you are probably someone near and dear to us. I can't imagine why you would visit this site for any other reason.
Know that we appreciate your love and support and we hope that you feel a sense of connection to the endeavors that we've committed our lives to.
We have decided to launch this blog due to the fact that we've not been particularly good about staying in touch with many of our loved ones. Perhaps this can serve as one small improvement in that area of our lives.
Beth and I will be traveling with a team of 17 others to Lang Fang Teacher's College in Lang Fang, China (Hebei Province). We'll be staying there for two weeks in service to many of the students there. English immersion will be our focus during the time that we spend there. This will be a return trip to Lang Fang for us. We were privileged to travel there in May 2007 for the same purpose that will take us there this Spring.
In addition to reconnecting with old friends at Lang Fang, we will be developing some new connections in another city. Beth and I will be returning to China this August for the beginning of an amazing four year journey in the "Middle Country." We will be teaching at a university somewhere in the Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei province area. As you might imagine we are quite excited about this new adventure in our lives.
Thank you for remembering us and for helping us to write a new chapter in our story. We feel a special sense of commission with the foundation that your friendship provides to us. We are your representatives in China as well. As such we cherish the chance to share with you the struggles and joys that life there will inevitably bring.

Hi Steve and Beth,
ReplyDeleteWe've been thinking about you constantly since you left yesterday. It's 9:45 A.M. here, which means that hopefully you are getting settled into your new home and getting ready to go to sleep for your your first night in China. All is well here. Aunt Marie and Gabe have both improved, and the rest of us are fine, except that we miss you very much.
Love,
Ma
I hope you made it safely to China and are getting settled. Let me know when you have an address because I have a lot of school supplies I would like to send (pencils, crayons, pens, and notebooks).
